But rather than being isolated on a private island (traditionally there has been a ‘one resort per island’ rule), guesthouses are located on some of the Maldives’ fascinating ‘inhabited islands’. Inhabited islands are any islands where local people live. This means that travellers staying in guesthouses have the opportunity to experience the unique culture of the Maldives, from local crafts and performances to day-to-day island life like fishing.

The guesthouses in Maldives offer higher value than most hotels and resorts islands. The rooms are cheaper than any high end resort rooms but you still have all you need for a great vacation. You get access to almost all the activities offered at an expensive resort – at a much cheaper rate.
